WOW! Annual Group Show ~ 2025
Wild Over Watercolor is proud to present our 2025 WOW! Annual Group Show (WAGS) in partnership with Keizer Art Association. The Show is open to WOW! members of record as of April 1, 2025. We are fortunate to have talented artists in our group with unique points of view and painting styles, which means our water media show this August of 2025 in the KAA Gallery will be interesting and engaging on many levels.
Announcing 2025 WAGS Juror
WOW! is pleased to introduce our juror, Christine Helton as judge for our August 2025 WOW! Annual Group Show (WAGS) held at Keizer Art Association (KAA).
Christine Helton, a resident of Portland for over forty years and a retired teacher, is a local Northwest artist. She is a member of several local critique groups and galleries, including the Oregon Society of Artists in Portland and Currents Gallery in McMinnville. She has accepted numerous awards at juried shows and has signature membership in the Oregon Watercolor Society.
Chris is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Teaching. She received her Master’s in Teaching and Art Endorsement at Lewis and Clark College. While teaching, she completed the Portland Art Museum School’s, (now PNCA) Certificate of Design and Illustration. The last six years of her thirty-year career, she taught two-dimensional art at Art and Communication Magnet Academy, in Beaverton Oregon. After retiring, Chris volunteered as a docent at the Portland Art Museum.

Chris works in several mediums, including watercolor, soft pastel, oil, acrylic, and mixed media. The subject of her paintings are people, nature, and objects that reflect things in life she enjoys. Her works are representational, showing a narrative, meant to mirror the viewers own experiences.
Mostly, Chris uses brush and paint and refers to photos she takes for inspiration. But some of her more abstract compositions are mixed media, including collage with acrylic, cold wax with oil, monoprints made with imprints for texture, or gesso with watercolor.
Chris continues to take classes and workshops, as she appreciates the discoveries, the changing moods, and the need for practice to improve her skills as an artist. She has a life-long pursuit of creating art that shows an optimistic view of our society.
