01 ~ Happy New Year ~

Welcome to 2024

For 2023 our WOW! members enjoyed a variety of events and activities that were fun, informative and challenging at times. In our

Group Painting Sessions (GPSs), In Person and on Zoom, our artists enjoyed painting, sharing, learning, visiting, and helping one another. While at our Get Togethers and Paint Outs, we painted, played, relaxed, and painted some more.

At the WOW! Spring Workshop, our guest instructor Harold Walkup

shared his style, insights, wisdoms, and painting his way. We learned much and thank him for delighting and pushing our boundaries.

For our Annual WOW! Art Show (WAGS) at KAA, we rose to the challenge of putting on stunning watercolor show with 14 WOW! artists presenting 66 paintings. The judge commented that it was one of the best shows she had seen.

WOW! provided demos, held meetings, developed its website, and celebrated the year's end with our annual Holiday Tea.

For 2024, WOW! has exciting events planned including demos plus our Spring Workshop and continues with our In Person and Zoom painting sessions.

We start off the year with the WOW! Annual Meeting at our In Person GPS at the Tualatin Heritage Center (THC) 12 - 3 pm on January 26th (rescheduled from January 12th.

We celebrate WOW! highlights 2023 that include successful activities and events, an amazing 2023 WAGS show in August, enjoyable and productive GPS, both In Person and on Zoom. WOW! is proud to continue providing a meaningful and friendly place for our artists.
Our time together the last Friday in January includes: Welcoming new and returning members and guests, a Getting to Know You Activity, our Annual meeting of review and planning for 2024, Painting time, Sharing members artwork, and having "Tea & Cake".

03 Thinking Ahead

As I start 2024, I'm wondering what I want to paint, learn, accomplish, and which shows to do. Which direction is my artwork heading? Some of us may know, others have a plan, and a few paint and go with the flow.

First, to help members, WOW plans on having demos on topics that add to your skills and knowledge.

If you have some topics for demos for our In Person and Zoom GPSs, share them at the Annual Meeting or reach out to the WOW Board.

Secondly, what shall I paint and where do I show my artwork? Ideas come from books, Pinterest, artists, YouTube, classes and art shows.

SO take a look at 2024 upcoming shows held by KAA, OSA, and WSO for ideas and/or topics.

CONGRATULATIONS

To Angela Wrahtz for receiving the Community Enhancement Award for 2023, in recognition "of significant art contributions within the Tualatin Community." Angela finds and recruits local artists to display their artwork in the Living Gallery of Tualatin Public Library.
